Serenity Seasons

“When Josey woke up and saw the feathery frost on her windowpane, she smiled. Finally, it was cold enough to wear long coats and tights. It was cold enough for scarves and shirts worn in layers, like camouflage. It was cold enough for her lucky red cardigan, which she swore had a power of its own. She loved this time of year.

The Mitten Song

Thumbs in the thumbs place,
Fingers all together.
This is the song,
We sing in mitten weather.
When it is cold,
It doesn't matter whether,
Mittens are wool,
Or made of finest leather.
Thumbs in the thumbs place,
Fingers all
This is the song,
We sing in mitten weather.

winter poem

Winter's beauty majesty
Created with icy winds and sleeting rain
Falling snow and bitter cold
Raging storms artistically
Forming a world all its own
Ice sculptures out of freezing rain
Moon beams display
Diamonds thrown upon trees and grass
Sidewalks of glass
Streets covered in black glaze
Hearts beating faster
Time moving slower
Cars, like sleighs, sledding
Mother Nature takes control
Speed and resistance, objects in play
praying while gliding
Exchanging greetings
you and your agent
often part of season's requisite
School days turn to snow days
Fresh snow prompt
Moms into making snow ice cream
Icicles, nature's icy daggers
boots and mufflers and mittens
Snowmen & hot chocolate & popcorn
New bird friends
hang out at the feeder
Friendly tracks to follow in the snow
Tracks of deer and racoon and rabbit
wolf and fox
The light of the moon highlights
Crunching footprints across a field of snow
Hardly a sound
Except for frozen breath
in and out
